• Cipher: Any method of transforming a message to concele its meaning.
• Code: A system of words, letters, figures, or other symbols substituted for other words, letters, etc., especially for the purposes of secrecy.

• Digital Footprint: A trail of data you create when using the internet, including websites visited, emails sent, information submitted, and social media activity.
• Hyper Transfer Protocol Secure: A combination of the hypertext transfer protocol with the secure socket layer.
• Internet: A global computer network
• Malware: A malicious type of software
• Network: A group or system of interconnected people or things
• Online: Connected to a network or other devices
• Personally identifiable information: Information that can be used to figure out who you are
• Phishing: A type of scam that tricks you into following a malicious link or disclosing private information online.
• Private: Belonging to you and not usually meant to be shared.
• Pop-Up: An advertisement or window that “pops up” on your device
• Privacy: Keeping information that belongs to you from being shared with others.
• Recipient: The person who receives a message
• Scam: A trick or misleading message
• Sender: The person who sends a message
• Social Engineering: Ways of tricking people into giving out confidential or personal information.
• Social Media: Websites and applications where you can post opinions, links, images etc. (e.g.,Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
• Stegonagraphy: The technique of hiding data within an ordinary, non-secret, file or message in order to avoid detection
